"Doing our best for customer safety and comfort based on 15 years of experience"
Air Busan (CEO Jung Byungsub) celebrated the 15th anniversary of its Busan-Osaka route on April 26.
The Busan-Osaka route, which Air Busan launched in April 2010, was the first route operated by a domestic low-cost carrier (LCC) and became the airline's second regular international route after the Busan-Fukuoka route since its founding.
In a competitive landscape previously dominated by two major airlines, Air Busan quickly absorbed demand, and by the fourth year of operation in 2013, it had raised its passenger market share on this route to the mid-30% range, taking the lead. Except for the period during the COVID-19 pandemic, Air Busan has maintained the number one market share for passengers on this route every year up to the present.
The cumulative number of passengers on the Busan-Osaka route surpassed 1 million in 2016, 2 million in 2018, and 3 million in 2024. As of March this year, the total number of passengers transported since the route's launch has reached approximately 3.4 million, and the accumulated number of flights has exceeded 20,000.
The Busan-Osaka route, together with the Busan-Fukuoka route, has now established itself as one of Air Busan's flagship routes. During the surge in post-pandemic demand in 2023 and 2024, the route set new annual records for the highest number of passengers, with more than 400,000 passengers each year.
An Air Busan representative stated, "Based on our 15 years of extensive route operation experience, we will continue to do our best to provide customers with the safest and most comfortable service possible."
