According to sources in the broadcasting industry and related fields, Ryu submitted his resignation to the Commission on the same day. It has been reported that he cited health issues as the reason for his resignation.
Ryu is currently under police investigation over allegations that, in 2023, he mobilized family members and acquaintances to file petitions with the Commission, requesting reviews of news reports by Newstapa that cited the "Kim Manbae-Shin Hakrim recording."
On April 21, the Anti-Corruption and Civil Rights Commission decided to refer the petition manipulation allegations to the Board of Audit and Inspection.
The resignation process for the Chairperson of the Korea Communications Standards Commission is expected to proceed through the Korea Communications Commission.
