Jangheung County in South Jeolla Province (Governor Kim Sung) has begun identifying policy tasks in preparation for the 21st presidential election scheduled for June 3, 2025, and has officially launched activities to ensure these tasks are reflected in election pledges.


According to the county on April 25, with the presidential election date confirmed, a briefing session on response plans for policy tasks in preparation for the election was held the previous day, presided over by Governor Kim Sung. During the session, 23 policy tasks aimed at the development of Jangheung County were reported, with a total project budget reaching 2.9435 trillion won.

Key policy tasks by sector include, in the field of culture and tourism, the construction of the National Nobel Literature Museum (45 billion won) to realize the vision of "Jangheung, City of Nobel Literature," and the comprehensive maintenance project for the Borimsa Temple area, a thousand-year-old temple (45 billion won), both of which were discussed as major focus areas.


In the SOC (social overhead capital) sector, projects to improve local transportation conditions were reported, including the expansion of Daedeok Sinri?Jangheung Sunji to a four-lane road (427.4 billion won), the expansion of Anyang Gisan?Sachon to a four-lane road (67 billion won), and the construction of a bridge connecting Jangheung Sumun and Goheung Nokdong (1 trillion won).


In the agricultural sector, plans are in place to strengthen the competitiveness of the region's core industry, agriculture, by establishing a functional rice production complex (8 billion won) and constructing a disease-free seedling supply center for high-income crops (50 billion won).


Through the briefing session, the county meticulously reviewed the implementation plans for each policy task. In addition, the governor and all department heads discussed response strategies aligned with the policy directions of the government, political parties, and South Jeolla Province.


Based on the results of this briefing session, the county plans to finalize and adjust the policy tasks for the presidential election, and will work to ensure that the identified tasks are reflected in election pledges through close cooperation with each party's presidential campaign.


Governor Kim Sung stated, "Through this presidential election, I will do my utmost to ensure that our region's pending projects are incorporated into government policies so that Jangheung can secure future growth engines."
