A Local Government Cooperation Model for Postal Worker Health Management

The "Visiting Win-Win Health Center" in Gwangsan-gu, Gwangju is being recognized nationwide as a model case for supporting worker health management.


According to Gwangsan-gu on April 25, interest in the program has been growing as the Korea Post Headquarters in Sejong City recently requested collaboration to support employee health management.

In response, on April 21, the district provided customized health services to about 170 postal delivery workers at Gwangsan Post Office, including cardiovascular disease prevention and musculoskeletal disorder posture correction. In June, the Win-Win Health Center will also operate at the Gwangju Mail Distribution Center, and health lectures are planned as well.


The Korea Post Headquarters has introduced the Gwangsan-gu case to post offices nationwide and has begun spreading the local government cooperation model, reportedly also requesting support at the government level.


At the same time, participation from local businesses and industrial complexes is continuing. Hangil Occupational Health Research Institute, a professional health management organization, is recruiting participating companies, and both Pyeongdong Industrial Complex and the auto parts company Howon Co., Ltd. have expressed hope to operate the program additionally.


An official from the district stated, "This is gaining attention as a preventive health management model for workers and citizens. We will work to expand it nationwide in collaboration with various organizations, including the Korea Post Headquarters."
