The city announced on April 25 that it signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Gumi branch of the Ministry of Labor and the Gumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry on April 24 at the City Hall International Trade Cooperation Office. The signing ceremony was attended by Yoon Kwon-sang, head of the Gumi branch of the Ministry of Labor, Yoon Jaeho, chairman of the Gumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry, and about 10 other officials.

The purpose of this agreement is to simultaneously promote the local settlement of women and strengthen the competitiveness of businesses.

The "Women-Friendly Enterprise Certification Project" is a customized support program designed to encourage the stable employment of young women in the region, while offering incentives to participating companies. Gumi City will provide up to 20 million won in corporate environment improvement funds to certified companies and preferential benefits for small and medium-sized enterprises when applying for operating capital loans.

The Gumi branch of the Ministry of Labor will offer tailored consulting services by linking the "Work-Life Balance Job Incentive," while the Gumi Chamber of Commerce and Industry will provide practical benefits such as ESG vouchers to help companies more easily create women-friendly environments.

Gumi City plans to recruit participating companies in May, and in June, the city will officially launch the project by certifying companies, delivering plaques, disbursing environment improvement funds, and providing consulting. The city will continue to focus its administrative efforts on creating a "women-friendly city" where women's lives and work are in harmony.

Kim Jangho, mayor of Gumi, stated, "Establishing a foundation for women and businesses to grow together is the key to a sustainable local economy," and added, "I hope today's agreement will not remain a declaration, but will serve as a catalyst for real change. I ask not only the three organizations but the entire local community to cooperate."
