The KOSPI index is moving in slightly negative territory during the session, pressured by net selling from institutional and foreign investors.
As of 10:00 a.m. on April 24, the KOSPI index is trading at 2,519.73, down 0.23% from the previous day.
By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 49.5 billion won and 181.1 billion won, respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 213 billion won. In the futures market, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 26.5 billion won and 1.3 billion won, respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 26.5 billion won.
By sector, performance is mixed. The machinery and equipment sector is up 0.83%, textiles and apparel 0.42%, food, beverage and tobacco 0.49%, construction 0.46%, medical precision 0.26%, transportation equipment 0.17%, and chemicals 0.08%. In contrast, the pharmaceuticals sector is down 1.72%, metals -0.57%, non-metals -0.52%, general services -0.53%, and transportation and storage -0.35%.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, more are declining than rising. Samsung Electronics is down 0.54%, SK Hynix -0.44%, LG Energy Solution -0.14%, Samsung Biologics -2.72%, Hyundai Motor -0.58%, Kia -0.22%, Celltrion -0.75%, and KB Financial Group -0.35%. On the other hand, Hanwha Aerospace is up 0.61% and HD Hyundai Heavy Industries is also up 0.41%.
The KOSDAQ index is also weak. At the same time, the KOSDAQ index is trading at 724.93, down 0.16% from the previous day. By investor type, institutions and foreigners are net sellers of 33.1 billion won and 41.8 billion won, respectively, while individuals are net buyers of 77.5 billion won.
Among large-cap stocks by market capitalization, more are declining. Alteogen is down 0.51%, HLB -1.79%, Rainbow Robotics -0.35%, Rigakem Bio -1.58%, Peptron -2.53%, and Kolon TissueGene -1.17%. In contrast, EcoPro is up 0.71% and Classys is up 2.08%. EcoPro BM and Hugel are trading flat.
Meanwhile, in the Seoul foreign exchange market, the won/dollar exchange rate is trading at 1,428.7 won, up 1.5 won from the previous day.
