The Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport announced that Jongmyeon Park, CEO of Jiseung CNI, will be awarded the Dongtap Industrial Medal on April 24 in recognition of his contributions to the dissemination and expansion of new construction technologies.
The Ministry and the Korea Construction and Transportation New Technology Association held the 23rd Construction and Transportation New Technology Day ceremony at EL Tower in Seoul on the same day. Since 2003, the ceremony has been held annually on the last Thursday of April to celebrate Construction New Technology Day, but since last year, the awards have also included transportation new technologies.
Jongmyeon Park, who received the Dongtap Medal, has developed four new construction technologies, including the nation's first jointless bridge abutment construction method. Hyunju Seo, CEO of Baro Construction Technology, received the Industrial Medal, while Juhan Maeng, Executive Director of Dongmyung Engineering Architects Group, was awarded the Presidential Citation.
Jinyong Lee, CEO of Carecon, received the Prime Minister's Citation. Seungsoo Lee, Vice President of Samlim Engineering, and 16 others received the Minister of Land, Infrastructure and Transport's Citation. In the construction and transportation new technology slogan contest, Dongbeom Cho, an official at Busanjin District Office, received the Minister's Award for the slogan, "Building and innovating transportation with new technologies for a sustainable world."
Prior to the ceremony, a forum was held with experts from various fields to discuss ways to promote new technologies. After the event, a technology briefing session was scheduled, where each company would introduce and consult on their technologies with ordering agency officials. According to the Ministry, there have been a total of 1,082 new construction and transportation technologies to date, including 64 transportation new technologies.
Hyunhwan Jin, First Vice Minister of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure and Transport, said, "I would like to express my gratitude for the hard work and dedication of those who have passionately developed new technologies and contributed to the advancement of construction and transportation technology, even under difficult circumstances. We will continue to actively foster smart new technologies and develop various policies to promote technology development and utilization."
