On the morning of April 23, Park Kangsu, Mayor of Mapo District, made an emergency visit to the site of ground subsidence that occurred at 22 Yanghwa-ro 19-gil, Mapo District at 7:00 a.m. to inspect the recovery efforts.
The road affected by the ground subsidence is an area with heavy pedestrian traffic and a village bus route, requiring extra attention to safety. In particular, there is a large-scale construction project underway nearby, leading to a series of civil complaints.
After checking the overall situation, including the inconvenience caused to nearby residents by the construction, pedestrian safety management, noise, and dust, Mayor Park requested the construction site operators to take immediate action to ensure safety management.
In addition, in order to proactively resolve inconveniences experienced by district residents due to the construction, a field complaint office was set up near the construction site so that an official could address complaints on-site.
To alleviate the inconvenience and anxiety of residents in adjacent apartment complexes, Mayor Park also visited another nearby multi-family housing construction site, bringing together the residents' representative and construction company officials on-site to resolve issues promptly.
Mayor Park Kangsu stated, "At a time like this, when concerns about safety accidents are rising, residents' anxiety is increasing due to construction and incidents. It is the mayor's duty to ensure that residents can live in a safe environment and to resolve their inconveniences," adding, "I will continue to dedicate all administrative resources to prevent safety accidents and to address the concerns of our residents."
