S&I Corporation
Promoting the Local Data Center Industry

A data center refers to the essential infrastructure required for providing and utilizing information (IT) services. Most IT services, including artificial intelligence, cloud computing, the Internet of Things, big data, and autonomous driving, are delivered through data centers.

Founded in 1975, S&I Corporation is the nation's leading company specializing in data center operation and management, with its headquarters located in Gangseo-gu, Seoul. The company manages and operates more than 20 domestic and international data centers under consignment, and achieved sales of 830.6 billion won as of last year.

This business agreement was established to create an eco-friendly data center industry ecosystem in Busan, centering on the Eco Delta City Green Data Center Cluster, through mutual cooperation among the city, S&I Corporation, and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency.

The signing ceremony was attended by Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan, Hyung Wonjun, CEO of S&I Corporation, and Kim Taeyeol, President of the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency, who signed the agreement.

S&I Corporation will promote various collaborative projects to vitalize the local data center industry, while the Busan Metropolitan Government and the Busan IT Industry Promotion Agency will provide administrative support for these efforts.

S&I Corporation will carry out the following: provide technical consulting and share operational expertise related to core infrastructure such as power, cooling, security, and fire protection; offer technical consulting to improve data center infrastructure efficiency; provide practical, field-based training and education programs; and foster professionals needed for the data center industry and create local jobs.

Lee Joonseung, Deputy Mayor for Administrative Affairs of Busan, stated, "This agreement with the nation's leading data center operation and management company will not only greatly benefit companies moving into the Eco Delta City Green Data Center Cluster, but will also serve as an important turning point for revitalizing the entire local data center industry."

Deputy Mayor Lee emphasized, "We will focus our capabilities so that Busan can become a leading city in the digital economy."
