Accounting Inspection of Chungnam Province and Provincial Office of Education Until May 12

On the morning of the 23rd, the Chungnam Provincial Council held the appointment ceremony for the 2024 fiscal year settlement inspection committee members at the council building and began the inspection of the budget settlements executed last year by Chungnam Province and the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education.
The settlement inspection committee consists of 14 members: three council members who were appointed as committee members at the 357th extraordinary session on March 19 (Joo Jinha, representing Yesan 2, People Power Party; Park Jeongsu, representing Cheonan 9, People Power Party; and Jeong Byeongin, representing Cheonan 8, Democratic Party of Korea), two certified public accountants, two tax accountants, three former public officials, and four budget and accounting experts.
From April 23 to May 12, over a period of 20 days, the settlement inspection committee members plan to examine the entirety of the 2024 fiscal year budget (including general and special accounts, and funds) executed by Chungnam Province and the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education during the previous year, amounting to approximately 16 trillion won.
During the inspection period, after analyzing and reviewing the settlement data prepared by Chungnam Province and the Office of Education, the committee members will submit their inspection opinions. The governor and the superintendent of education will then attach these inspection opinions and submit an application for settlement approval to the provincial council.
The council plans to review and approve the settlement during the 359th regular session, which will begin on June 10, after examination by the relevant standing committees and the Special Committee on Budget and Accounts regarding the settlement approval applications submitted by Chungnam Province and the Chungnam Provincial Office of Education.
Chairman Hong Seonghyeon stated, "The settlement inspection is an important procedure to ensure that the precious taxes of our residents have been used rationally and efficiently for their lives and happiness, and to complete the administration for the 2024 fiscal year," and added, "As this is a meaningful task to protect the rights of our residents, I urge you to conduct a thorough and substantial inspection."
