Mokpo Coast Guard Collects Fingerprints from Deceased
Investigation Underway Based on Witness Statements
The Coast Guard is investigating after a body, presumed to be male, was discovered in the waters near the government vessel pier at Namhang, Mokpo-si, Jeollanam-do.
According to the Mokpo Coast Guard on April 23, the Coast Guard received a report at approximately 10:44 a.m. that a person was found dead in the water near the government vessel pier at Namhang, Sanjeong-dong, Mokpo-si.
It is reported that a passerby discovered the body and made the report.
The body was recovered by firefighters who responded first to the scene. Upon checking the belongings of the recovered body, it was found that there were no items that could help identify the deceased.
The Coast Guard plans to collect fingerprints from the deceased and investigate the cause of death by checking the statement of the person who reported the incident, as well as reviewing CCTV footage around the accident site.
