Nighttime Humanities and Arts Special Lectures
First Session to Be Held on the 24th
Seogu District in Gwangju (headed by Mayor Kim Ikang) will operate the Humanities and Arts Night Special Lecture series, 'Sangnok Starlight School,' through July.
According to Seogu on April 23, Sangnok Starlight School was established to provide local residents with opportunities to experience diverse cultures and to foster cultural literacy.

This special lecture series will be held at 7 p.m. on the last Thursday of each month through July. Authors from various fields, including middle age, alcohol, daily life, and book seals, will deliver lectures to introduce participants to a culture of 'rest (Hyu)'.
The first lecture, scheduled for April 24, will feature writer Moon Hayoun, author of 'Cheerful Middle Age: Why Is It Touching When It's Funny?', who will share thoughts on aging under the theme 'For Those Preparing for the Second Act of Life,' providing participants with motivation and inspiration.
Subsequent lectures will include: on May 29, writer Cho Seungwon, author of 'A World Enjoyable with Scotch,' will present 'Stories of Alcohol Loved by Artists'; on June 26, photographer Yoon Kwangjun, author of 'The Aesthetic Sense Class,' will speak on 'The Power to Fill Everyday Life with Beauty'; and on July 24, Shin Kyungsik, the seal artist who inspired 'The Child Who Sells Seals,' will deliver a lecture on 'The Beauty and Understanding of Seal Engraving.'
Registration is on a first-come, first-served basis on the first day of each month and can be completed through the Seogu Integrated Library website. For more information, contact the Seogu District Library Division.
Hanmi, head of the Library Division, stated, "Sangnok Starlight School is a program designed to provide residents with rest and recovery through humanities and arts lectures, even in the midst of their busy daily lives. We will continue to offer a variety of nighttime cultural programs to expand opportunities for cultural enjoyment."
