Jinju, Uiryeong, and Haman Hold Kick-off Meeting for 'K-Geosang Tourism Route Commercialization Project'

Expectations for Revitalizing Southern Region Tourism
Through Joint Collaboration of Three Cities and Counties

Jinju City, Gyeongsangnam-do announced on April 23 that it held a kick-off meeting at the K-Entrepreneurship Center for the 'K-Geosang Tourism Route Commercialization Project Implementation Plan Establishment Service.'


The meeting was attended by Cho Dojin, Head of Tourism Development at Gyeongsangnam-do, Park Sungjin, Director of Culture and Tourism at Jinju City, Choi Wooseok, Director of Economy and Culture at Uiryeong County, Lee Byungkyu, Director of Administration at Haman County, Oh Seongho, Head of Meta Planning Consulting, and a total of 15 participants.

The meeting was led by Oh Seongho, the lead researcher for the implementation plan establishment service at Meta Planning Consulting Co., Ltd. He provided an in-depth explanation of the vision and strategies for commercializing K-Geosang tourism products, as well as content development and branding, presenting the overall direction of the project.


The participants agreed to integrate the historical and cultural resources held by the three regions?Jinju City, Uiryeong County, and Haman County?to develop high-end tourism products, invigorate local tourism, and foster the area as a global hub for K-tourism.


Meanwhile, the K-Geosang Tourism Route Commercialization Project was proposed by Jinju City in 2022 as part of the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism's Southern Region Wide-Area Tourism Development Project and was selected in 2023. The plan is to connect the birthplace of LG founder Koo Inhoe and GS founder Heo Manjeong in Jisu-myeon, Jinju City; the birthplace of Samsung founder Lee Byungchul in Jeonggok-myeon, Uiryeong County; and the birthplace of Hyosung founder Cho Hongje in Gunbuk-myeon, Haman County, developing these into a premium tourism route and commercializing it.


The project is being jointly promoted by Jinju City, Uiryeong County, and Haman County, with a total budget of KRW 6.2 billion (KRW 3.1 billion in national funding and KRW 3.1 billion in provincial and municipal funding) to be invested by 2030. The implementation plan establishment service will be carried out until November this year.
