About 20,000 Athletes from 17 Cities and Provinces to Participate
41 Sports Competed in 20 Cities and Counties
Jeonnam Province announced on April 22 that the 2025 National Sports for All Festival, the largest festival for sports club members in Korea, will be held for four days starting from April 24 in Mokpo and 19 other cities and counties across Jeonnam.
This year’s event will see about 20,000 participants from 17 cities and provinces nationwide, competing in 41 sports including soccer, basketball, athletics, swimming, and badminton at a total of 57 venues. The underwater finswimming event was held as a preliminary competition from April 19 to 20, marking the start of the festival.
The opening ceremony will take place at 5:40 p.m. on April 25 at Mokpo General Stadium. Under the theme "OK! Now Jeonnam, Energize Sports for All!", the event will showcase Jeonnam's vision and key industries through a drone light show and multimedia performances.
Jeonnam Province has completed comprehensive safety inspections for all 57 venues, covering fire safety, electricity, and elevators, to ensure that participants can compete in a safe and comfortable environment. In addition, renovation work has been completed at 16 venues in 12 cities and counties, including the Suncheon Palma Indoor Tennis Court and the Naju Squash Stadium.
During the festival, various situation rooms will be operated by field to promptly address any inconveniences experienced by athletes and visitors. A total of 400 vehicles, including chartered buses and taxis, will be provided to facilitate the smooth transportation of the athletes.
Medical staff will be stationed at all venues to respond quickly to any emergencies during the competitions. The Korea Sports Association and each sports federation were provided with advance guidelines on food poisoning prevention, such as caution against consuming raw foods. In addition, a comprehensive accommodation and food information center will be operated during the festival to immediately address any inconveniences for athletes and visitors.
This year, 151 sports club members from Japan will participate, engaging in exchange matches with Korean club members in eight sports, including basketball, soccer, and rubber baseball. This is expected to serve as an opportunity to further enhance private-level cooperation and mutual understanding between the two countries through sports, going beyond simple participation in competitions.
A variety of cultural events have also been prepared. Cultural programs and "Culture Day" events will be held, along with regional signature events such as the Mokpo Marine W Show, Hwasun Spring Flower Festival, Sinan Piano Island Festival, and Hampyeong Butterfly Festival, further heightening the festive atmosphere.
Additionally, four regional fam tours will be organized for athletes, their families, and officials: the Southwest region (Mokpo, Yeongam), the Central South region (Jangheung, Gangjin), the Eastern region (Yeosu, Suncheon), and the Northern region (Damyang, Gokseong). These tours are expected to help boost local tourism.
