Cheongsong County in North Gyeongsang Province is launching full-scale restoration work to ensure a stable supply of agricultural water, following significant damage to agricultural production infrastructure caused by wildfires in Ulsan, North Gyeongsang, and South Gyeongsang on March 21.
The facilities damaged by the recent wildfires are diverse and extensive, including 73 field water tanks, 19 well pump rooms, and agricultural pipelines with a total length of 22.6 kilometers.
In preparation for the main farming season, the county proactively began dismantling the damaged facilities. The dismantling was completed before the on-site inspection by the Central Joint Investigation Team, and the county is currently reinstalling the water tanks and pump rooms.
Given that the previously installed FRP (fiber-reinforced plastic) water tanks are vulnerable to fire, the county is now selecting and installing STS (stainless steel) water tanks, which offer superior durability, during the restoration process.
Cheongsong County has requested 3.412 billion won in restoration funds for the recovery of agricultural production infrastructure, following on-site verification with the Central Joint Investigation Team, and is making every effort to ensure a swift and thorough restoration.
County Governor Yoon Kyunghee stated, "We will do our utmost to focus all our resources on the restoration so that farmers affected by the wildfires will not experience any inconvenience in securing agricultural water."
