Gwangjin District Opens 'Gwangjin Supnaru Cafe' as a Restful Oasis in Daily Life

Gwangjin District (District Mayor Kim Kyungho) will open the 'Gwangjin Supnaru Cafe' (760 Cheonho-daero) at Gwangjin Supnaru, a beloved walking space for local residents.

Located at the foot of Achasan Mountain and above Cheonho-daero, Gwangjin Supnaru is a signature landmark of Gwangjin District, featuring the Mugunghwa Garden, Naru Waterfall, and the 'Growing Forest' observatory, which offers panoramic views of the Han River and Cheonho-daero. To double the enjoyment at Supnaru, a cafe has been added where visitors can enjoy coffee, beverages, and simple desserts.

Gwangjin Supnaru Cafe began its trial operation on April 21, ahead of its official opening on May 1. The cafe showcased its beautiful exterior amid vibrant spring flowers and warm sunlight. The cafe was designed to be small and neat so as not to disturb the natural beauty of its surroundings.

Inside, there are five tables for two people and one table for eight people, while outside, three tables are set up for guests to fully enjoy nature. Visitors can spend a relaxing time listening to the sound of Naru Waterfall cascading nearby.

The operating hours are from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. during the summer season, and from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. during the winter season. The menu includes a variety of beverages such as Americano, ade, smoothies, and fruit drinks, as well as simple desserts like sandwiches and cookies. The cafe also plans to gradually expand its menu. In particular, the Americano is offered at an affordable price of 1,500 won per cup, making it a perfect choice for a light break during a walk.

Gwangjin Supnaru Cafe is a space with special meaning. Seniors from the Gwangjin Senior Club Community Project Group participate directly as baristas, making the cafe not only a workplace but also a place for vibrant senior life and community connection. Each cup of coffee enjoyed by a resident creates a virtuous cycle, bringing fulfillment and vitality to the lives of the senior baristas.

Kim Kyungho, Mayor of Gwangjin District, said, "With the addition of the cafe, Gwangjin Supnaru, which has served as a pause in daily life for many residents, has become even more complete," and added, "I hope that residents weary from their busy routines can recharge at Gwangjin Supnaru, enjoying both nature and coffee."
