The Yeonggwang County team achieved an impressive result by finishing 6th overall?one rank higher than their target?at the 64th Jeollanam-do Sports Festival, which was held in Jangseong County from April 18 to 21. The team’s passionate spirit and organizational strength were key to this success.
At this event, Yeonggwang County solidified its position as the undisputed strongest in Jeollanam-do by winning the tennis event for the fifth consecutive year. In detail, the team also placed 3rd in volleyball, 4th in ssireum (Korean wrestling), and 5th in cycling. With a total score of 30,350 points, Yeonggwang County ranked 6th overall, demonstrating balanced performance across all events.
The Yeonggwang County athletes participated in a total of 23 events, showcasing the skills they had honed over time. Their systematic teamwork, strong mental fortitude, and unwavering determination deeply impressed and instilled pride in the residents of the county.
Jeong Byeonghwan, President of the Yeonggwang County Sports Association, stated, "I applaud the passion of the athletes and coaches who gave their best until the very end. We will continue to do our utmost to develop sports in the county by expanding the base of athletic activities."
