Connecting Neighborhoods, Spaces, and Citizens
Our Local Cultural Shared Spaces
Applications Accepted Until the 30th
The Uijeongbu Cultural Foundation (Chairman: Kim Donggeun, hereinafter referred to as the Foundation) announced on April 22 that it is accepting applications for spaces to participate in the 2025 Cultural Shared Space Support Project, "Saigongang," until April 30. This initiative is part of the Foundation's major project to create a "15-Minute Cultural Living Zone" as a key task in developing the city as a cultural hub.
"Saigongang" is a project aimed at discovering neighborhood cultural shared spaces where any citizen can access arts and culture within a 15-minute walk from their daily life, and activating these spaces as cultural sharing hubs. Selected spaces will receive project support funds for planning and operating cultural programs, venue rental subsidies for citizens to use the space, as well as qualitative support such as interviews, promotions, and consulting.
This project will be operated in two types.
First, "Operation Support (Eoullim)" integrates the two subtypes of operation support that were run last year, targeting private neighborhood spaces in Uijeongbu such as cafes, bookstores, workshops, and libraries that can accommodate five or more people. It provides up to 2.5 million KRW in project funding per space to operate at least eight cultural programs with local residents.
Second, "Venue Rental Support (Space Dream)" allows citizens to autonomously hold cultural gatherings and events within Eoullim spaces. For existing Saigongang spaces (those that participated in the project before 2024) and spaces selected this year, 100,000 KRW will be provided per event for venue rentals lasting three hours or more (up to a maximum of 500,000 KRW per space per month).
This year, the scale of support has been significantly expanded compared to last year. Operation Support (Eoullim) will select and support up to 30 spaces, nearly double the number from the previous year, and Venue Rental Support (Space Dream) has secured a total project budget of up to 50 million KRW. A new evaluation criterion, "regional connectivity," has been added to assess how well the space and activities consider regional characteristics and citizen participation, as well as how the activities can benefit citizens.
Applications must be submitted by 6:00 p.m. on April 30. Applicants can download and complete the application form from the Uijeongbu Cultural City website (direct link to homepage) and submit it. The results of the document screening will be announced on the Foundation's website between May 13 and 14.
Park Heeseong, CEO of the Uijeongbu Cultural Foundation, stated, "The more spaces there are where neighbors can share culture in their daily lives, the higher the quality of life for citizens will become," and added, "We hope for active interest and participation from space operators who are planning meaningful local cultural activities."
