Yeosu City Successfully Concludes 2025 Gatseom Picnic Festival

Attractions, Experiences, and Culinary Delights
Enjoyed by Citizens and Tourists Alike

Yeosu City, South Jeolla Province, announced on April 22 that the Dolsan Gat Village Festival, "2025 Gatseom Picnic," held in the Dolsan-eup area on April 19 and 20, concluded successfully with the participation of around 2,000 citizens and tourists.

Now in its second year, the Gatseom Picnic operated under the slogan "Rest Your Heart and Sunshine," as a citizen-led festival planned and enjoyed together by local residents.

In particular, the citizen planning group and village leaders from seven districts actively participated from preparation to operation, adding true meaning to the concept of a community-driven festival. After starting last year as a small-scale, village-centered event that demonstrated the potential for a "sustainable local festival," this year once again proved its value with even more diverse and high-quality programs.

The festival especially stood out for offering even more attractions and activities than last year. Visitors were captivated by a variety of menus, including the "Gatseom Lunchbox," set against the backdrop of blooming Gat flowers.

Additionally, a range of programs such as hands-on experiences using Gat, a kids’ playground, and the "Gatseom Treasure Hunt"?where participants searched for puzzle pieces around the Gat flower path?along with on-site participatory activities like "Gatseom Recreation," further heightened the festive atmosphere.

A city official stated, "Although the weather was somewhat disappointing, the festival was able to conclude successfully thanks to the participation of many citizens," adding, "We will continue our efforts to create a sustainable local festival that brings together the nature, culture, and capabilities of the residents of Dolsan."
