Gwangju Shinsegae is actively promoting the Carbon Neutrality Points system, operated by the Korea Environmental Industry and Technology Institute, to its employees and encouraging them to participate.
The Carbon Neutrality Points system allows individuals to receive benefits through small, everyday actions. After registering on the Green Life Practice website for carbon neutrality points, participants can receive electronic receipts instead of paper ones, use tumblers, and purchase products with eco-friendly labels. Depending on the level of participation, cash rewards are provided.
In addition, from April 18 to 27, Gwangju Shinsegae is running the "Carbon Upsuda Challenge" with its employees. The Carbon Upsuda Challenge encourages employees to participate in carbon reduction by taking actions such as using tumblers and not leaving food waste. Employees who submit proof photos of their participation receive free coffee coupons.
Gwangju Shinsegae, which has continuously carried out ESG activities such as making children's safety umbrellas from discarded banners and plogging along Mudeungsan and the Gwangjucheon riverside, plans to maintain its commitment to carbon reduction and environmental protection in the future.
Lee Donghun, CEO of Gwangju Shinsegae, stated, "As a local corporation, Gwangju Shinsegae has been dedicated to ESG activities to coexist with the community, consistently engaging in upcycling discarded banners and plogging. Moving forward, we will actively participate in small everyday practices, such as using tumblers and not leaving food waste, to protect our one and only precious Earth."
