Gwangju Urban Corporation (President Kim Seungnam) announced on April 22 that, in recognition of the 55th Earth Day, it has designated a five-day period as Climate Change Week until April 25 to raise awareness of the climate crisis and encourage participation in carbon-neutral living practices. The corporation is conducting a variety of promotional activities during this period.

Under the slogan "Let's Take Climate Action! Let's Embrace Adaptive Living!", the corporation is implementing a range of programs during Climate Change Week, including: a climate action (plogging) campaign, a lights-off event, an environmental film festival to raise awareness of the climate crisis, a campaign for resource circulation of waste electrical and electronic products, promotion of green lifestyle practices, and promotion of enrollment in the carbon-neutral points energy program.

On the first day of Climate Change Week, April 21, about 40 executives, employees, and labor union members split into two teams and held a "plogging" event, picking up trash while walking around the Sangmu district.

President Kim Seungnam emphasized, "Through Climate Change Week, we will build consensus on carbon neutrality and ensure that all executives and employees take the lead in spreading a culture of practical action in daily life."

Meanwhile, Gwangju Urban Corporation signed a business agreement last year with E-Circulation Governance, which collects and recycles waste electrical and electronic products free of charge, and reduced approximately 5 tons of greenhouse gas emissions through eco-friendly recycling processes. The corporation has also implemented its own carbon points system, leading efforts to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and practice carbon neutrality.
