All-out Efforts to Strengthen Residents' Disaster Response Capabilities
and Raise Safety Awareness
Geochang County in South Gyeongsang Province announced that, starting with Buk-sang-myeon and Gabuk-myeon on April 23, it will conduct 'On-site Disaster Safety Education' sessions for approximately 300 residents?including village heads and Saemaeul leaders?across all 12 towns and townships in the county. These sessions will be held at each town and township's administrative welfare center.
This program has been designed to strengthen residents' disaster response capabilities and to establish a culture of safety in daily life, enabling effective responses to disaster incidents that occur intensively by season and period.
During the special spring wildfire prevention period (until May 15), the education will focus on wildfire safety, highlighting the dangers and illegality of burning agricultural by-products, as well as proper disposal methods. In addition, hands-on safety training will be provided, including practical exercises on evacuation procedures in case of smoke and how to use fire extinguishers.
Kim Seongguk, head of the Safety Management Division, stated, "By delivering disaster safety education directly in the field, we aim to enhance the safety capabilities of local residents and address safety blind spots in everyday life." He added, "Preventing disaster incidents requires proactive measures above all else, and we will continue our efforts to make Geochang County even safer."
