Residents were urgently evacuated after houses near a subway construction site in Gwangju began to tilt.

According to Gwangju Buk-gu District Office and the police on April 21, a report was received at around 10:01 p.m. that four residential houses near Gwangju Station (374-35, Jungheung-dong, Buk-gu) had developed cracks and were leaning to one side.

Police immediately dispatched to the scene evacuated the residents of the affected houses and nearby homes to safety, and are currently strictly restricting access around the accident site.

Some affected residents claim that they had noticed signs of an accident since earlier in the day and had filed complaints with the subway construction officials.

No casualties have been reported so far.
