Jeollanam-do has reviewed the preparations in each area, including exhibitions and promotional marketing, for the successful hosting of the 2025 Jeonnam International Ink Biennale, which will be held under the theme "Neighbors of Civilization: Somewhere Over the Yellow Sea" for just over two months starting August 30.
On April 21, Jeollanam-do held a preparation briefing session for the 2025 Jeonnam International Ink Biennale at the provincial government office, presided over by Governor Kim Youngrok.
At the briefing, Yoon Jaegap, the general director of the Jeonnam International Ink Biennale, thoroughly reviewed each stage of the biennale, including its direction, the composition and production of exhibition halls, official events, promotional marketing, and programs for local artists. He reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring the biennale proceeds smoothly by taking into account potential issues that may arise during the exhibition period.
Celebrating its fourth edition this year, the 2025 Jeonnam International Ink Biennale will be held under the theme "Neighbors of Civilization" from August 30 to October 31 across Mokpo, Jindo, Haenam, and other locations throughout Jeollanam-do.
With the goal of becoming "a new center of the world painted in ink," the biennale will feature a high-caliber exhibition with more than 80 artists from 20 countries, including the internationally renowned teamLab. The event will also offer a variety of programs for both domestic and international visitors, such as ink performances, traveling ink lectures, and artist talks, showcasing the rich appeal of ink art.
Governor Kim Youngrok emphasized, "This fourth biennale must demonstrate progress compared to the first three editions," and requested, "Please prepare an open exhibition that will attract the interest of those unfamiliar with ink art by creating a hip and dynamic presentation that exudes youthful energy."
The Jeonnam International Ink Biennale Secretariat plans to review the various suggestions presented at this briefing and promptly address them to ensure thorough preparations during the remaining period.
