HDC Hyundai Development Company filed a lawsuit seeking to overturn an eight-month business suspension imposed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government in connection with the collapse at the Gwangju Hakdong redevelopment demolition site in 2021, but lost the case.
On April 21, the Administrative Division 9 of the Seoul Administrative Court, presided over by Chief Judge Kim Gukhyeon, ruled against the plaintiff in the lawsuit filed by Hyundai Development Company against the Seoul Metropolitan Government to cancel the business suspension order.
In March 2022, the Seoul Metropolitan Government imposed an eight-month business suspension on Hyundai Development Company for poor construction in relation to the accident that occurred in June 2021 at Section 4 of the Gwangju Hakdong redevelopment site, which resulted in the deaths of nine citizens. However, in April of the same year, an injunction requested by Hyundai Development Company was granted, postponing the administrative action for three years.
The eight-month business suspension imposed by the Seoul Metropolitan Government for violating subcontractor management obligations was later changed to a fine of 400 million won.
