Up to 93,840 Won Per Day for a Maximum of 13 Days Provided for Inpatient Treatment

Chungnam Province to Provide Inpatient Living Expenses for Low-Income Workers Chungnam Provincial Government Office View

On April 21, the Chungnam Provincial Government announced that it would provide "Chungnam-style inpatient living expenses" to help low-income workers who require hospital treatment due to illness or injury focus on their recovery without financial burden.

This program is designed to assist vulnerable workers who do not receive paid leave benefits, ensuring that they can receive timely hospital treatment without missing the appropriate treatment period. The support items include both inpatient treatment and general health checkups covered by the National Health Insurance Service.

This year, reflecting the increase in the living wage, the province will provide inpatient living expenses of 93,840 won per day for up to 13 days during hospitalization.

Notably, Saturdays and public holidays that fall within the hospitalization period are also included in the number of support days, thereby increasing the actual effectiveness of the support. In the case of health checkups, support is provided for one day.

Eligible applicants are local subscribers to the National Health Insurance whose household income is at or below 120% of the median income as announced by the Ministry of Health and Welfare. The property criteria are 250 million won or less for small and medium-sized cities and 220 million won or less for rural and fishing villages.

Applications can be submitted within six months from the date the reason for inpatient living expense support arises. For those who were admitted and discharged in 2024, applications can be submitted within one year. Applications may be submitted by the applicant or a representative, either in person at the local Eup, Myeon, or Dong Administrative Welfare Center with the required documents, or by mail.

An official from the provincial government stated, "The inpatient living expense support is a responsible welfare policy of Chungnam Province to protect the healthy lives of low-income workers," adding, "We will continue to provide support so that vulnerable groups can detect diseases early and receive treatment."
