Direct Employment from Sophomore Year...
20 Students to Be Selected
On April 21, Sun Moon University announced that it will establish an early employment contract department in partnership with Volvo Trucks Korea, starting with the 2026 academic year.
This department is an early employment-linked model in which students receive practical, work-based training at the company from the time they enter university. Sun Moon University plans to recruit 20 freshmen for the program beginning in the 2026 academic year.
In their first year, students will complete theoretical and general education courses. From their second year, they will be employed by Volvo Trucks Korea and receive on-site training at official service centers across the country.
In particular, the program will adopt the Swedish-style apprenticeship system known as 'Fordonsutbildning,' which is student-centered. The focus is not only on connecting students with jobs, but also on developing practical professionals tailored to individual growth.
President Moon Sungje stated, "The establishment of this contract department is a leading example of a Korean-style apprenticeship program created by Sun Moon University and Volvo Trucks Korea," adding, "It will serve as an important milestone in creating an educational ecosystem where students, companies, and universities can all thrive together."
Meanwhile, Sun Moon University began discussions with Volvo Trucks Korea about establishing the contract department at the end of last year, and an official agreement was signed at the Dongtan service center on April 17.
