Passed the Final National Team Selection Trials Held in March and April
Namsuhyun, a member of the Suncheon City Hall (Mayor Noh Kwan-gyu) archery team, has passed the final national team selection trials for 2025 and will compete in both the Summer Universiade and the Asian Archery Championships.
Based on the results of the first and second national team selection trials held in March and April of this year, Namsuhyun was selected as one of eight female recurve national team members and will represent South Korea at international competitions starting in July.
The Summer Universiade, an international university sports competition hosted by the International University Sports Federation (FISU), will be held in Germany this July. The Asian Archery Championships, organized by the World Archery Asia (WAA), will take place in Bangladesh in November.
Namsuhyun is a double Olympic medalist, having won a gold medal in the team event and a silver medal in the individual event at the 2024 Paris Olympics. She graduated from Suncheon Seongnam Elementary School, Suncheon Pungdeok Middle School, and Suncheon Girls' High School, and joined Suncheon City Hall in 2024.
Noh Kwan-gyu, Mayor of Suncheon, stated, "I am very pleased that Namsuhyun will compete in international competitions as a national team member for the second consecutive year, thanks to her consistent training and the excellent guidance of her coaches. I expect that she will further elevate the status of Suncheon and South Korea in the upcoming competitions."
