KB Kookmin Card has been running educational programs for youth with disabilities since 2014 in partnership with the youth-focused welfare organization Milal Welfare Foundation.

The program provides systematic and specialized educational opportunities to young people with disabilities who have exceptional talent in the arts and sports.

More than 500 youth with disabilities nationwide have participated in the program. Many of them have gone on to become artists in their local communities or have won awards at various competitions.

To date, KB Kookmin Card has provided a total of 1.67 billion KRW in support, including organizing art exhibitions, supporting athletic training, and sponsoring participation in competitions.

This year, recruitment was completed in the first quarter, and education began this month. The three fields are art ("KB Bom"), sports ("KB Jump"), and music ("KB Allegro"). A total of 91 students are being supported: 24 in art, 52 in sports, and 15 in music.

KB Bom offers customized education from expert instructors in painting, design, sculpture, and illustration, and also organizes exhibitions.

KB Jump provides sports equipment and lesson fees for each discipline, including soccer, track and field, and weightlifting. Scholarships are awarded annually to outstanding athletes.

KB Allegro is a new initiative starting this year. In February, 15 youth with disabilities who will perform music brightly and cheerfully (allegro) were selected for the program.

Talented youth with disabilities from low-income backgrounds receive one-on-one customized lessons from active musicians and university professors. They are also given opportunities to participate in music competitions and performances such as recitals.

A KB Kookmin Card representative stated, "We have continued this program for 11 years to help youth with disabilities discover their hidden talents and grow into healthy members of society," adding, "We will continue to support youth with disabilities so that they do not become marginalized."

Meanwhile, KB Financial Group is working to increase employment of people with disabilities in collaboration with its affiliates, including KB Kookmin Bank. The group provides preferential points in recruitment for people with disabilities and works with the Disability Employment Consulting Center. Through collaboration with 'Bravo Beaver,' an equity investment-based standard workplace for people with disabilities, the group is also contributing to the creation of jobs for people with disabilities.
