Songpa District Hosts 16m Art Balloon Display and Local Community Prize Event Until May 18
A Continuation of Last Year's 'Lapras and Pikachu'... Now with the Transforming Pok?mon 'Metamon' for Added Fun

Pok?mon Return to Seokchon Lake at the End of April!

The "Lapras and Pikachu" that drew a crowd of 3 million at Seokchon Lake last year are making a return as the quirky "Transform! Metamon: Lapras & Pikachu" installation!

Songpa District (headed by Mayor Seo Gangseok) will host a Pok?mon art balloon exhibition and prize giveaway event around the east side of Seokchon Lake from the end of April through May 18. This event is being held for the second consecutive year in collaboration with the Lotte Group.

The stars of last year's exhibition, "Lapras and Pikachu," will once again appear on the lake, but their plump bodies and subtle smiles now seem unfamiliar. This is because the story has been expanded to feature "Metamon," the transforming Pok?mon, taking on their forms. With their unexpected appearance, these new Pok?mon are expected to bring cheerful laughter to visitors at Seokchon Lake this spring.

The art balloon, which will be unveiled on April 26, measures 16 meters in height and 18 meters in width. It will be illuminated from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., allowing visitors to enjoy it at night as well.

Last year, the Pok?mon art balloon exhibition attracted over 3 million visitors, and during this year's cherry blossom season, a total of approximately 8.62 million people visited the Seokchon Lake area. The district expects this exhibition to have a significant impact on the local economy and, in cooperation with the Lotte Group, will hold a prize giveaway event worth a total of 30 million won at a booth in front of the Songpa Tourism Information Center at Seokchon Lake.

The "Seokchon Lake Eats! Pok?mon Prize Giveaway Event" will award prizes to a total of 4,000 participants, including Lotte World Adventure all-access passes, Lotte Cinema movie tickets, vouchers for food and beverages such as hamburgers and coffee, and Pikachu balloons. Anyone who presents a physical receipt showing a purchase of at least 20,000 won at restaurants or cafes around Seokchon Lake?including Bangi-dong Food Alley, Songridan-gil, and Hosudangil?can spin the roulette for a chance to win a prize.

The prize giveaway will be held on every Saturday and Sunday from April 26 to May 18, as well as on Children's Day (May 5) and the substitute holiday on May 6, for a total of 10 days. Last year, the event was so popular that long lines formed each day as people waited for their turn at the roulette.

In addition, on May 4 and 5, a "Photo Time with Pikachu" event will take place at the lakeside stage on the east side of Seokchon Lake. Visitors will have the opportunity to take commemorative photos with a life-sized Pikachu making a surprise appearance at 3 p.m., creating special memories for families visiting Seokchon Lake during the Children's Day holiday.

Seo Gangseok, Mayor of Songpa District, stated, "I hope you enjoy the Pok?mon floating on Seokchon Lake this pleasant spring, savor the diverse local cuisine, and experience the excitement of winning a prize. We will continue to enhance the appeal of Seokchon Lake as a leading tourist destination in Seoul and work to discover projects that invigorate the local economy."
