The Reason 4.19 Is Called a "Revolution"
A Decisive Choice to Change the Era
Han Donghoon, former leader and presidential primary candidate of the People Power Party, marked the 65th anniversary of the 4·19 Revolution by declaring, "I will ensure a change of era."
On April 19, Han emphasized on his Facebook page, "The reason 4·19 is called a 'revolution' is because the people made a decisive choice to change the times."
He further explained, "It was not simply about electing a new president, but about expressing the will to open a new era for the Republic of Korea with a new constitution. That is why 4·19 is called a 'revolution.'"
Han pointed out, "With the early presidential election, some people are talking about a 'revolution of light.' However, if martial law and successive impeachments merely trade places, as the poet said, 'there will be no revolution, and I will have merely changed rooms.'"
He stressed, "The 4·19 Revolution, 65 years ago, clearly shows us that what we need now is not just a change of administration, but a true change of era. Remembering that noble spirit, I will ensure a change of era together with the people."
