Mungyeong City in Gyeongbuk will officially begin issuing cards for the "Happiness Voucher Support Project," which aims to improve the welfare and quality of life of female farmers and fishers in rural areas, starting on the 21st.
This year, a total of 1,310 people are eligible for the Happiness Voucher program, with a project budget of 196 million won. The number of beneficiaries has increased by 110 compared to last year, and the city is continuously expanding the scale of the project each year to make tangible improvements in the welfare of female farmers and fishers.
Eligible recipients are full-time female farmers and fishers aged 20 or older and under 70 who reside in rural or semi-rural areas within Mungyeong City. Each person will receive a voucher card worth 150,000 won, which includes a 30,000 won self-payment.
The card can be used at a variety of lifestyle and cultural businesses, including supermarkets, hair salons, movie theaters, and performance venues, and is expected to help boost sales for local small businesses.
A Mungyeong City official stated, "We plan to continuously expand the Happiness Voucher program as part of our policy to reduce the financial burden on female farmers and fishers and to enhance their cultural quality of life," adding, "We also expect this project to have a positive ripple effect on revitalizing the local economy."
Meanwhile, the city is implementing a range of welfare policies for female farmers and fishers, striving to improve living conditions in rural areas and enhance residents' quality of life.
