Wanju County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 18th that it has been finally selected in the '2025 Jeonbuk Gourmet Tourism Revitalization Project' contest hosted by Jeonbuk Province.

Through this project, the county plans to further expand its differentiated gourmet tourism content by linking the region's signature agricultural specialties, known as the 'Wanju 9 Products,' with local resources.

Last year, the county operated same-day and overnight gourmet tourism products, produced local food lunchboxes utilizing the 'Wanju 9 Products,' offered healing agriculture experiences, and held local food-based cooking classes. These initiatives received a great response not only from domestic participants but also from international visitors, helping to promote 'Wanju-style gourmet tourism' both in Korea and abroad.

Building on this, the county plans to introduce new tourism content this year, including the development of fusion cuisine using the Wanju 9 Products (such as dried persimmons, ginger, strawberries, etc.), a gourmet experience program called 'Three Meals a Day, One Wanju Meal,' a gourmet stamp tour, and the operation of pop-up stores in connection with the Wild & Local Food Festival, all of which will showcase the region's stories and food culture.

In particular, the county plans to operate the 'Samnye Gourmet Tour' program, which will use Samnye Station?a key transportation hub?as a base, combining Wanju's identity as the 'No. 1 Local Food Destination' with the unique characteristic of a growing foreign resident population in the area.

The county also aims to develop gourmet tourism programs that can coexist with traditional markets, thereby ensuring excellent accessibility and visitor retention, and to build a Wanju-style local gourmet ecosystem where the local commercial district and tourism harmonize.

County Governor Yoo Heetae stated, "Wanju is the home of local food and the new center of gourmet tourism. Through this project, we will introduce tourism that embodies Wanju's unique flavors and stories, and open the path to sustainable gourmet tourism where the entire region grows together."
