The National Heritage Administration is conducting the cultural heritage replication project through public-private cooperation to sustainably preserve and utilize the original forms of national heritage and create new value. The History of Whoo, designated as a corporate sponsor for 'Protection Support of Joseon Royal Cultural Heritage,' has supported the replication project of the Korean Empire royal family's clothing for the past two years.
The Dangui is a daily ceremonial garment worn by women of the late Joseon royal court and noble families (Banga, houses of the yangban class). For the replication of clothing, materials currently available and actually used in cultural heritage restoration were selected, considering the characteristics of traditional materials. At the event, in addition to the Dangui, three replicas of Joseon royal court paintings and calligraphy were also unveiled.
The History of Whoo plans to utilize the results of this replication project in its products as well. Lee Hong-joo, Executive Director of The History of Whoo Marketing Division at LG Household & Health Care, stated, "Replicating royal cultural heritage is not merely reproduction but a meaningful activity to protect the original artifacts and further secure the sustainability of intangible heritage through replication technology." He added, "The History of Whoo, which promotes the beautiful royal culture of our country, will continue to support this mission with even greater dedication."
Meanwhile, since 2015, The History of Whoo has signed a 'National Heritage Keeper' agreement with the National Heritage Administration to widely promote the beauty of Korea's cultural heritage, including ancient palaces and queens, and has been conducting various sponsorship projects to preserve and manage palaces and reexamine the value of royal court culture.
