Incheon Yeonsu-gu Installs Crime Prevention Safety Equipment in Single-Woman Households and Stores

Yeonsu-gu, Incheon is promoting the 'Women’s Safety Dream Project' to provide crime prevention safety equipment to women living alone and women-operated stores, which are relatively vulnerable to crime and security issues.

The support targets 35 women-only households and 35 women-operated stores in the area, with priority given to households that have experienced violence or crime and low-income households.

General households with a jeonse (key money deposit) equivalent of 300 million KRW or less, and stores with a jeonse equivalent of 350 million KRW or less, are eligible to apply. The jeonse equivalent is calculated as the deposit plus monthly rent multiplied by 12 months.

Women living alone can receive either a 'front door door guard' or a 'Safety Home Set,' and must have individual wireless Wi-Fi installed to apply.

The door guard is installed by a service provider who visits the site. Movement detection and other features can be monitored in real-time via a smartphone app. Additional services such as 24-hour dispatch service and 30-day video storage are provided free of charge for one year. After one year, users must pay a personal fee to continue using the additional services, but the basic functions outside of these services remain free.

The Safety Home Set, consisting of a home camera (CCTV), smart doorbell, and portable emergency bell, allows real-time monitoring of the security status inside and outside the home through a smartphone app. In case of an emergency, it can sound an alarm and send the current location.

Women-operated stores that meet the application criteria will receive an emergency safety bell for unforeseen situations, with 24-hour police emergency dispatch available in urgent cases.

The application period for the Women’s Safety Dream Project is until the end of June. Applications can be submitted by visiting the Women and Children Division of the district office or by emailing the person in charge.
