Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung officially launched the 'Weekly Yeouido Office' on the 16th, kicking off a full-fledged campaign to promote Gwangju's presidential election pledges. Ahead of the 21st presidential election, Mayor Kang is focusing on 'on-site administration in Yeouido' to ensure that key issues and future growth strategies for Gwangju are reflected in the pledges of both ruling and opposition parties.

This strategy aims to secure momentum and accelerate the progress of regional projects such as artificial intelligence (AI) and the Gwangju-Daegu Dalbit Railway amid the rapidly changing presidential election landscape.

On this day, Mayor Kang met with Democratic Party Policy Committee Chair Jin Sungjoon and People Power Party Policy Committee Chair Kim Sanghoon, delivering Gwangju's presidential election pledges, titled 'Gwangju's Proposal,' and requested that core projects such as the AI Model City be actively included. On the 17th, he is scheduled to visit the Cho Kuk Innovation Party and the Progressive Party to seek further cooperation.

Previously, on the 8th, Mayor Kang announced 'Gwangju's Proposal' for the 21st presidential election, which includes 15 key tasks, 40 projects, and policies worth 81 trillion won, such as the AI Model City-The Brain Gwangju and the Future Mobility New City.

'Gwangju's Proposal' presents a blueprint for the city's future, including: ▲ Establishment of AI Model City-The Brain Gwangju ▲ Creation of a cutting-edge Future Mobility New City ▲ Establishment of the Asia Culture Hub City Agency ▲ Attraction of three major national cultural facilities ▲ Inclusion of the May 18 Spirit in the Constitution's preamble ▲ Construction of a state-led civil-military integrated gateway airport in the Southwest region ▲ Rapid promotion of the Gwangju-Daegu Dalbit Railway ▲ Creation of a Southwest Megacity, among others.

People Power Party Policy Committee Chair Kim Sanghoon, upon meeting Mayor Kang, stated, "I understand that Gwangju City has delivered its presidential election pledges to the local party chapter, and we will soon receive the pledge plans from the chapter to create regional pledges."

Democratic Party Policy Committee Chair Jin Sungjoon also commented, "The concepts of Gwangju's presidential election pledges, such as the AI Model City and the cutting-edge Future Mobility New City, seem promising. We will also consider ways for regions to thrive independently."

Mayor Kang emphasized, "By opening the Weekly Yeouido Office, I am fully committed to promoting our presidential election pledges. Whether or not regional pledges are reflected in the presidential election will determine the development of the region five or ten years from now. This is why local government heads must do their utmost in the presidential election. In this election, I will make sure to secure Gwangju's interests in AI and future vehicles."
