Jeollanam-do announced that it has been selected as the region with the largest area in the country for the 2025 first half Low-Carbon Agricultural Product Certification Project, with 3,275 hectares (141 cases).


According to the Korea Agricultural Technology Promotion Agency on the 16th, the area selected for low-carbon agricultural product certification in Jeollanam-do for the first half of this year is 3,275 hectares, accounting for 77% of the nationwide total of 4,283 hectares.


By city and county, Shinan has 473 hectares, Naju 314 hectares, Gangjin 248 hectares, Haenam 212 hectares, Jindo 198 hectares, Hampyeong 191 hectares, and Goheung 180 hectares.


The selected farms will undergo on-site verification of carbon reduction technology practices and submit carbon emission reports starting in April, and certificates will be issued in August.


Kim Youngseok, Director of the Eco-friendly Agriculture Division of Jeollanam-do, said, "With consumers' changing perceptions in response to the climate crisis, the low-carbon agricultural product market continues to grow," adding, "We will strengthen cooperation with ESG management companies, local governments in the Seoul metropolitan area, and specialized distribution companies to secure stable sales channels."


Jeollanam-do plans to secure a total certified area of 6,160 hectares (1,660 hectares existing, 4,500 hectares newly added) by the end of this year, aiming to achieve the top spot nationwide and preoccupy the market.
