Starting from the 20th...
Expanded Scope of Treatment
Suncheon City, Jeollanam-do (Mayor Noh Gwan-gyu) announced that the Public Animal Clinic, located on the second floor of the Companion Animal Culture Center in Jogok-dong, will become the first public animal hospital in the nation to offer Sunday consultations starting from the 20th.
Additionally, the clinic will expand its services from previously only treating stray animals to now also serving companion animals owned by vulnerable groups.

As a result, emergency situations requiring urgent treatment for stray animals and companion animals belonging to vulnerable groups can now be addressed on Sundays, when local animal hospitals are closed. The clinic will provide emergency care and treatment, and if the case is severe, the animal will be transferred to a nearby large animal hospital.
Companion animals of vulnerable groups include those owned by people with severe disabilities, recipients of basic livelihood security, low-income households, and seniors over 65 living alone. Treatment fees apply, but discounts are available.
A city official stated, "In Suncheon, if a child gets sick on a holiday, they can receive care at Dalbit Children's Hospital. Now, if a companion animal gets sick on a holiday, they can be treated at the public clinic. With this, we are taking another step forward as a pet-friendly city where both people and animals can live well together."
Since opening in August 2023 as the second of its kind nationwide after Damyang, the Suncheon City Public Animal Clinic has treated over 1,600 stray animals and is the only public animal clinic in the country to operate an inpatient ward.
