Namyangju City Expands Eligible Industries for Knowledge Industry Centers

Namyangju City, Gyeonggi Province (Mayor Joo Gwang-deok) announced on the 15th that it had notified the addition of industries eligible to move into knowledge industry centers on the 14th.

As a result, the clustering of specific industries, expansion of self-sufficient functions, and transformation of the industrial ecosystem in Namyangju City, which has many restrictions on industrial development due to various regulations, will be further strengthened.

Earlier, in July 2023, the city opened the door to resolving vacancy rates by actively interpreting laws to allow OEM manufacturing businesses to move in. Since then, it has been collecting field opinions from economic organizations such as the Gyeonggi Eastern Chamber of Commerce and Industry (Chairman Lee Hong-gyun) and knowledge industry centers, and with this notification, additional eligible industries for moving in have been added.

Therefore, in addition to manufacturing, knowledge-based industries, and information and communication industries, various industries such as △ OEM manufacturing △ smart farm vertical farming △ shared kitchen operation △ construction and electrical, information and communication, and fire-fighting facility construction △ video and audio content production and distribution △ manufacturing company headquarters, etc., are now allowed to move into knowledge industry centers.

Namyangju City plans to continue focusing administrative efforts on alleviating the vacancy problem in knowledge industry centers, especially providing practical opportunities for young entrepreneurs and startups with insufficient initial capital, thereby revitalizing the local industry.

Mayor Joo Gwang-deok of Namyangju City said, "The expansion of eligible industries for knowledge industry centers will be a great help to companies struggling with industrial site restrictions," adding, "We will continue to focus administrative efforts on improving the industrial ecosystem to establish a solid foundation for Namyangju to grow into a future-oriented self-sufficient city."

Meanwhile, the city plans to actively promote this notification through eup/myeon/dong administrative welfare centers, knowledge industry center management groups, and various promotional channels.
