Educational Program Held for Parents
Chosun University (President Kim Choonseong) announced on the 15th that it had conducted the educational program "What Does My Child Eat Well? - A Program for Moms to Learn" in collaboration with the Gwangju Dong-gu Children's and Social Welfare Meal Management Support Center (Director Lee Jumin, Professor of Food and Nutrition).
This program, held on the 9th as part of the "High-Key Project," was organized in connection with the Meal Management Institute's "Picky Eating Contest" program. It was targeted at parents of children enrolled in daycare centers and kindergartens registered with the center.
The theme of the education was "Carrot Picky Eating," and it consisted of theoretical education and cooking activities. The theoretical part covered the types of root vegetables, the definition of food bridges, and understanding picky eating. During the cooking activity, participants made "Steamed Carrot Cake and Carrot Rape Kimbap."
For four weeks following the education, parents and children will experience food bridges at home, and a survey on changes in children's eating habits will also be conducted.
Director Lee Jumin stated, "Improving picky eating starts with the attempt to eat food," and added, "We hope that nutrition education for parents will also help improve children's picky eating habits at home."
