Yoon: "No blockade of the National Assembly"... Lee Jun-seok fiercely criticizes as "blatant lie"

Yoon: "Democratic Party Leader Staged a Fence-Climbing Show"
Lee Junseok: "Entrance Blocked Until 1:50 a.m. the Next Day"

Former President Yoon Seok-yeol's claim in the trial on charges of leading a rebellion that there was no lockdown of the National Assembly on the day of the December 3 emergency martial law declaration last year has sparked outrage from Lee Jun-seok, the Reform New Party's presidential primary candidate, who called it a "blatant lie."

Yoon: "No blockade of the National Assembly"... Lee Jun-seok fiercely criticizes as "blatant lie" Lee Jun-seok, the preliminary presidential candidate of the Reform New Party, expressed anger, calling the trial of former President Yoon Seok-yeol on charges of being the ringleader of a rebellion a "blatant lie."

On the 14th, Lee shared related reports on Facebook and raised his voice, saying, "If the court calls me, I will appear at any time to refute this blatant lie." "On the night of December 3, I confronted the riot police blocking my access, asking, 'What kind of idiot gave the order to prevent a member of the National Assembly from entering the Assembly?' In fact, I was denied entry until 1:50 a.m. on the 4th," he explained.

This statement was made in response to remarks during the first formal trial of former President Yoon on charges of rebellion held that day. Yoon took the floor for opening remarks and directly refuted each point while displaying the prosecution’s PPT. He particularly argued that the blockade and lockdown of the National Assembly was "nonsense." He claimed that everyone who was supposed to enter the Assembly did so, and that the Democratic Party leader staged a photo op by climbing over the fence. He also appealed that the number of personnel deployed was too small to effectively block the Assembly. During the trial, Yoon spoke for 42 minutes in the morning and 37 minutes in the afternoon, and after all statements were finished, he continued with an additional 3 minutes of remarks.

However, Lee, who was controlled by the police from entering the National Assembly during the martial law, was captured by multiple cameras raising his voice, saying, "This is illegal martial law, you say we can’t hold sessions under emergency martial law? This is rebellion, open it quickly," and "If you vote now, it’s rebellion." Moreover, Woo Won-shik, the Speaker of the National Assembly, also became a topic of discussion for risking climbing over the fence after being blocked from entering the Assembly, but Yoon’s legal team claimed it was "a scene of him climbing over alone when no one else was there."
