Leading Strategy Formulation and Infrastructure Establishment
The Korea Display Industry Association announced on the 14th that it has established the 'Inorganic Light-Emitting Business Promotion Team' as part of its support project to build an ecosystem for securing competitiveness and preempting the inorganic light-emitting display market.
The association plans to operate this promotion team for about eight years starting this year. The team will lead strategy formulation and infrastructure establishment across the inorganic light-emitting display research and development (R&D) projects, which will be fully launched this year.
The Ministry of Trade, Industry and Energy aims to secure core technological competitiveness to take the lead in the early market of inorganic light-emitting displays through this project. Inorganic light-emitting displays are a new market expected to grow to approximately 47 trillion won by 2035, with expanding applications in extended reality (XR) devices, smartwatches, premium TVs, signage, and more.
Lee Dong-wook, Vice Chairman of the Korea Display Industry Association, expressed, "This project will serve as a practical breakthrough to equip our technology with competitiveness capable of responding to rapidly changing and unstable trade environments such as tariff wars, and to protect our sovereign rights."
