POSCO Future M Supports Local Youth Independence through 'Didim Seed Savings Account' Sponsorship

Supporting 80 Underprivileged Youths with 48 Million KRW Over One Year
Funds Available for Tuition and More from Age 18

POSCO Future M is once again supporting the independence of local youth this year through sponsorship of the Didim Seed Savings Account.

POSCO Future M announced on the 14th that it will sponsor a total of 48 million KRW from last month until February next year for 80 underprivileged youths in Gyeongbuk Pohang, Jeonnam Gwangyang, Sejong, Seoul, where its headquarters and major business sites are located. POSCO Future M deposits 50,000 KRW per month per beneficiary, and the government provides an additional 100,000 KRW, which is twice the deposited amount, so that 1.8 million KRW is accumulated in the account over one year.

The Didim Seed Savings Account is an asset-building support program operated by the government since 2007 to help youths with difficult economic conditions prepare initial costs for social advancement. It is managed by the Child Rights Protection Agency under the Ministry of Health and Welfare, and when sponsors or guardians deposit a fixed amount monthly, the government provides an additional amount twice the deposited amount (up to 100,000 KRW per person per month).

The accumulated funds can be used by youths when they turn 18 for purposes such as tuition fees, employment training costs, and housing preparation to support their independence, and after the age of 24, they can use the funds freely without any restrictions.

POSCO Future M has been sponsoring the Didim Seed Savings Account annually since 2021, and in December last year, it received a commendation from the Minister of Health and Welfare for its contribution to revitalizing the Didim Seed Savings Account support project. POSCO Future M will have sponsored a cumulative total of 285 million KRW by next year.

POSCO Future M is also carrying out various social contribution activities such as the 'Blue Dream Environmental Camp' for local children, the 'Future Generation Soccer Class,' and the 'Win-Win Type Skilled Worker Training' to help local youths find employment.
