Hongseong County Expands Discounts for Public Postnatal Care Center Fees

40% Fee Reduction for Mothers with a Second Child and Chungnam Province Address

Hongseong County in Chungnam Province announced that it will amend and implement the "Hongseong Public Postnatal Care Center Operation and Support Ordinance" to expand the eligibility for fee reductions, aiming to alleviate the financial burden of using public postnatal care centers.

The ordinance expands the fee reduction benefits, previously offered only to mothers residing in the county, to all mothers within Chungnam Province.

The fee reduction benefit, which was previously provided only to mothers giving birth to their third child or more, will now be extended to mothers with a second child. Additionally, the support rate will be increased to 40% of the usage fee.

The public postnatal care center, operated within Hongseong Medical Center, is equipped with eight rooms for mothers, a newborn room, a breastfeeding room, a program room, and various other facilities necessary for postpartum care.

Applications can be made through the website two months before the expected delivery date, with internet reservations accepted from 9 a.m. on the first Monday to Wednesday of each month.

A county official stated, "We hope that the expanded support for usage fees at the Hongseong Public Postnatal Care Center will greatly benefit families giving birth within the province."

Meanwhile, last year, a total of 170 people used the Hongseong Public Postnatal Care Center, with 78.8% receiving fee reduction benefits. The reduction rates were 50% for recipients of basic livelihood support, lower-income groups, multicultural families, and mothers with three or more children; 30% for mothers residing in Hongseong County; and 10% for mothers who gave birth at the obstetrics and gynecology department of Hongseong Medical Center.
