Refund Process Remains Unstable After Balan’s Rehabilitation Begins
Creditor Claims Can Be Filed at Seoul Rehabilitation Court from April 19 to May 9
On the 11th, the Korea Consumer Agency announced that since Balan's corporate rehabilitation procedure was initiated on the 4th, there have been cases where consumers returning products due to simple change of mind or product defects receive only the products back, and the refund process does not proceed smoothly, urging consumers to be cautious.
Balan has stated its intention to actively respond to return and refund requests through its shopping mall. However, the Consumer Agency revealed that Balan is currently undergoing corporate rehabilitation procedures, and issues with settling sales proceeds with sellers are unresolved.
The Consumer Agency explained that if consumers return products at the seller's request or proceed with return procedures due to defects, difficulties in refunding the purchase price may occur. Therefore, consumers are advised to carefully monitor the progress of the corporate rehabilitation process and respond prudently.
Consumers who have neither received their goods nor refunds can file a creditor claim at the Seoul Rehabilitation Court from the 19th of this month until the 9th of next month. If payment was made via credit card installment, and certain conditions are met (over 200,000 KRW, installment period of 3 months or more, etc.), consumers can request the credit card company to suspend installment payments, so attention to related procedures is also necessary.
The Consumer Agency guided, "If consultation regarding consumer damage is needed, consumers can inquire about response methods or receive counseling at the 1372 Consumer Counseling Center."
