Recording and Connecting with the Nature of Gochang
Gochang County in Jeollabuk-do and the Gochang County Ecotourism Residents’ Social Cooperative will be holding the '2025 Gochang Ungok Ramsar Wetland Photo Contest' until July.
According to the county on the 11th, this contest is being held under the theme 'Recording and Connecting with the Nature of Gochang' to widely promote the ecological value and beauty of the Ungok Ramsar Wetland.
Anyone can participate as long as the photos, taken with a camera or mobile phone, capture the four seasons of Ungok Wetland and its flora and fauna. Each person may submit up to four entries, and participants must print and mail their photos for submission.
The grand prize winner will receive a prize of 2 million KRW, with the top excellence award (1 person) receiving 1 million KRW, excellence awards (2 people) 500,000 KRW each, encouragement awards (5 people) 200,000 KRW each, and honorable mentions (40 people) 100,000 KRW each.
Winning and selected works will not only be included in a future Ungok Wetland photo book, but will also be exhibited at the Ungok Wetland exhibition in October.
Choi Soonpil, head of the county’s World Heritage Division, said, "This will help raise public awareness of the importance of ecological conservation of Ungok Wetland, and we expect it will also boost interest from local residents and tourists, thereby revitalizing ecotourism."
