Samgak Garden to Operate in Deogeun-dong from April 11 to November 30
Fifty-four Mapo-gu Residents Each Receive a Plot, Anticipating the Joy of Eco-friendly Harvest
Mapo-gu (Mayor Park Gang-su) will operate the 'Samgak Garden' project utilizing idle spaces from April 11 to November 30.
The garden is located in the area around 569-3 Deogeun-dong, Deogyang-gu, Goyang-si, adjacent to Mapo-gu, and is named 'Samgak Garden' because the entire land is triangular in shape.
This year, Mapo-gu prepared a total of 54 garden plots and allocated one plot (under 6㎡) each to 54 residents selected through a lottery.
Residents participating in Samgak Garden will autonomously manage their plots based on eco-friendly farming methods. The use of chemical pesticides, herbicides, and vinyl is prohibited.
On the opening day, April 11, seedlings will be provided on a first-come, first-served basis to help the garden plot recipients start cultivation.
Also, at 10 a.m. on April 12, there will be an explanation about the garden’s operation methods and eco-friendly agriculture.
Mapo-gu expects the Samgak Garden project to provide urban residents with emotional stability and relaxation, as well as an opportunity to connect with nature beyond daily life and to widely promote the importance of agriculture.
Park Gang-su, Mayor of Mapo-gu, said, "I hope people find peace of mind by touching the soil and growing crops directly in Samgak Garden," adding, "Mapo-gu will continue to make every effort to spread the preciousness of nature and enhance the value of agriculture."
