10,000 Gwangju Citizens Seek Future Strategies and Presidential Election Roles Jinwook Jung, Member of the National Assembly.

Approximately 10,000 citizens of Gwangju will gather to establish future development strategies for the city and to discuss Gwangju's role in the upcoming June presidential election at the "Manmin Gongdonghoe," a large-scale citizen debate, which will be held at 3 p.m. on the 13th at the Kim Daejung Convention Center.

The Manmin Gongdonghoe forum will feature expert discussions and open speeches by citizens under the theme "Measures to Set Gwangju and the Republic of Korea on the Right Path."

Attendees at the Manmin Gongdonghoe will include Democratic Party lawmaker Jung Chungrae (Chairman of the National Assembly Legislation and Judiciary Committee), Jeong Gyujae, former chief editorial writer at Korea Economic Daily, Yang Bunam, head of the Democratic Party's Gwangju City branch, and local lawmakers Min Hyungbae, Ahn Dogeol, Cho Incheol, Jung Jinwook, Park Gyuntaek, Jeon Jinsook, and Jung Junho, all participating as panelists. In addition, Gwangju Mayor Kang Gijung and Buk-gu District Chief Moon In, along with other district chiefs, will join to create a space for discussion with citizens.

The debate will cover topics such as: confirming the legitimacy of including the "Gwangju Spirit" in the preamble of the Constitution, which overcame the December 3 martial law; exploring growth strategies for Gwangju's future industries, including Artificial Intelligence (AI), Bio (BIO), Culture (CULTURE), Automobile (Drive in future·MOBILE), and Energy (ENERGY)?collectively referred to as "Gwangju ABCDE." There will also be discussions on making Gwangju a key player in the upcoming presidential election, thereby becoming a driving force for change in Korea. A resolution will be adopted on each topic.

Jung Jinwook, the lawmaker from Gwangju Dongnam-gap who proposed the Manmin Gongdonghoe forum, emphasized, "In 1898, the original Manmin Gongdonghoe called for national independence, sovereignty of the people, and political reform, creating a tremendous impact with 10,000 to 30,000 out of 170,000 Seoul residents participating. I hope that the Manmin Gongdonghoe forum, based on the Gwangju Spirit that overcame Yoon Sukyeol's rebellion, will play a leading role in setting Gwangju and Korea on the right path and serve as an opportunity to open the 'fourth democratic government' to its fullest."
