Teenage Suspects Caught After Police Chase
Teenagers who stole and fled with two vans in Gwangju were caught by police in Gimje, North Jeolla Province.
The Gwangju Bukbu Police Station announced on the 9th that they had apprehended and are investigating three teenagers, including a 17-year-old identified as A, on charges of special theft. They are accused of stealing car keys from a church in Unam-dong, Buk-gu, Gwangju at around 2:47 a.m. the previous day and driving off with two parked vans.
After receiving a theft report, the police began tracking the suspects. One of the stolen vehicles was found abandoned on a road near Unam-dong. The remaining vehicle was tracked using closed-circuit (CC) TV footage and other means, and at around 11:30 p.m. the same day, police pursued and apprehended the three suspects in Gimje, North Jeolla Province, as they attempted to evade a checkpoint.
All of the suspects were unlicensed, and it was confirmed that no significant traffic accidents occurred during their escape. The police plan to investigate the suspects further to determine the exact circumstances of the incident.
