Review of Implementation Results for 26 Tasks Including Agriculture and Fisheries
Gochang County in North Jeolla Province announced on the 9th that the 'Gochang County Carbon Neutrality and Green Growth Committee' was held the previous day together with experts in carbon neutrality and environmental policy.
At the committee meeting, the basic plan for carbon neutrality and green growth and the 2024 implementation review of climate crisis adaptation measures were deliberated and approved.
Previously, the county set a reduction target of 43% compared to the 2018 greenhouse gas emissions by 2030, in line with the national greenhouse gas reduction goal, and established 36 tasks across seven sectors, including buildings and transportation, to achieve this.
In addition, according to the previously established '3rd Gochang County Climate Crisis Adaptation Measures,' the county reviewed the implementation results for 26 tasks across six sectors in 2024, including water management, forests and ecosystems, and agriculture and fisheries, and discussed ways to supplement any insufficient areas.
The county plans to finalize the plan by incorporating relevant national and Jeonbuk Special Self-Governing Province plans and the opinions raised at the deliberation council.
Deputy County Governor Kim Youngsik said, "Climate change continues to impact our lives and ecosystems, and it also threatens the sustainability of our society. Active interest and participation from county residents are needed to achieve the goal of carbon neutrality."
